ruh roh......101 in 1001

Well, I forgot......but my 1001 days allotted for 101 in 1001 ended on November 13! Who knew haha.

Needless to say, I did not do a spectacular job. I finished 44 of my 101 tasks. Many more than that were in progress, but come November 13, they were not completed :(

I think it's time to make a new list. I enjoyed having the list, because it did keep me somewhat focused on accomplishing some things. Unfortunately, I got a little too vague on some of my items, or said "once a month", which meant if I forgot and missed a month, then I pretty much gave up on it.

I'm excited to start a new list! I think I will also set up some reminders in my phone.....I definitely forgot about my 101 list several times!

Keep your eyes opened for my new 101 list!

Update! Lots to talk about!

Well, I will start this post off with the most important information of the day......Piper is 7 months old! This last month went fast and slow at the same time. It feels crazy that she's only 7 months old, but the last month seemed to fly by, so it's weird.

She has become a really fun dog. She is still a lot of work, and she has taken to attacking our kitchen, which I am not a fan of. At night, she sleeps in her crate next to the bed, right next to me. But during the day, when I go to work or go out, we started letting her just stay in the kitchen. It started with crating her in her travel crate in the kitchen, and then moved to leaving the crate door open with the baby gate up, so she was confined to the kitchen.

she lives a really rough life :)

As she outgrew the travel crate, we put her big fluffy bed in the kitchen and just put the gate up. We have been doing this for.....probably 3-4 months. But now.....she has started assaulting the kitchen in her boredom. Mostly, since C left. When he was here, she spent a lot less time alone, overall. Now, she regularly spends 8 hours in the kitchen when I go to work. So instead of chewing on her toys (which are plentiful), she chews on the door frame, the REFRIGERATOR (stainless steel!), scratches at the cabinets, and digs at the drywall.

Other than that, she is fun :) I was sick a few weeks ago, the kind of sick that keeps you on the sofa unable to move. She wasn't thrilled about the lack of playing we were doing, but it's like she knew I wasn't up for it. She found ways to play and entertain herself, and otherwise stayed close and snuggled with me.

We go to the dog park almost daily, although the cold weather is now limiting our trips. She has tons of dog park friends, and everyone seems happy when she gets there. She absolutely loves other dogs, and she reminds me of the kid on the playground that is like "Hey, I'm Piper, what's your name, wanna play, wanna play, I wanna play, do you wanna play with me???" She also has a crazy understanding attitude towards aggressive dogs. It's like she doesn't get offended or scared when other dogs bark aggressively at her or act she's saying "It's ok, you're probably having a bad day, we can try to be friends again later."

Every time C sees her on skype, he is convinced she has doubled in size (each time lol). Since he left, she has almost doubled in weight though.

In other news, wedding plans are trucking right along! As I mentioned before, we have the date! And we are now under 10 months until the big day! I can't believe it sometimes :)

We have the church, reception venue, and the DJ, so far. And since we are having the reception at a hotel, it includes the catering, cake, linens, etc. So a lot of aspects can be checked off because we have the venue. My next goal is the photographer, which I have narrowed down to 3. Lots of things to consider!

C has been gone for over 2 months, and Piper and I miss him every day. We are more than ready for him to come home, but we will make it through!

I won't make any empty promises about writing more. Apparently, I fail. But hopefully, I will write more :) I am going to attempt to start working out and eating right so I feel and look great on our wedding day! So maybe I'll write about that :)

Holy Lazy Blogger!

Woahhhhh I'm a lazy blogger!

But in exciting news......C and I set a wedding date!

September 7, 2013 is the official date :) Paperwork is signed and we are ready to go.

C will be deployed until March, so a lot of the wedding planning falls squarely on my shoulders! I am super pumped about it, though!

4 months!

TODAY commemorates 4 months since we brought our little pup home!

I affectionately refer to her as "Little Baby Piper", but she is far from my little baby anymore!

Day 1- May 18

4 months later!

I can't believe how big my baby pup has gotten.

The picture with C is such a great comparison, cause in the first picture she is barely as tall as his leg! We have been settling in with just the two of us since C left a couple weeks ago. He will be gone for a while, so Piper and I need to get used to just us two.

I have been sprucing things up a little bit, finally hanging some things around the house that I wanted to hang and busting out some Fall decorations. I am enjoying seeing the little spruces come together.....I hope C likes it too when he gets home :P

My mom is coming to visit on Thursday, and I'm pretty pumped to have her here. She will be in Austin for work, so we are going to attempt to use my airline benefits to get her from Austin to Abilene.

Speaking of airline benefits, I hopped a few planes last week to get home to Baltimore and back to Abilene, and it only cost me $40! Major win! I had 3 days off in a row, and got off early on my "Friday", so I flew home! It was risky, flying standby, but it all worked out for me and it was an awesome jaunt home.

My mom and I were also able to start thinking about WEDDING plans :) I even got to try on some wedding dresses! The fiance reads this blog, so there won't be any pictures, but I found some awesome dresses!

Since this isn't a secret, here is my PROBABLE inspiration board for the wedding......I am pretty sure these are my colors!

Big news!

Hello blog friends. How are you on this lovely Thursday afternoon?

How am I, you ask? Oh, you know, just ENGAGED!

That's right........C popped the question and I said yes!

How did it happen, you ask? In typical us fashion :)

Several weeks ago, we visited C's family in Indiana and went to a local jeweler there to scope out rings. We had vaguely glanced at rings before, but this time C actually got within 6 feet of the display cases :P He also let me TOUCH them! I found a few rings I LOVED, but we were leaving for Abilene the next morning, so I didn't think there was much chance he was going to buy there.

Little did I know, when we got back to the house, C talked to his dad, who proceeded to make up a bogus story about going to the bakery to pick up something for dessert. He invited C to go with him, and off they went. I stayed at home with C's mom, and we chatted and made dinner. (I chatted, she made dinner :P I am such a terrible house guest!)   C and his dad returned with dessert in hand, and I was none the wiser.

Fast forward to the last two weeks or so. I was going insane! I knew C was going to propose before he deployed again, which sadly he did on Tuesday, and with each day that passed I was going a little more insane in anticipation! On Saturday morning, I got home from work around 11:30. He had texted me around 10 am saying he was going to the gym. I figured he was just doing a longer workout..........until 1 pm rolls around and he still isn't home! When he showed up right around 1, he told me that he had stayed extra long to do weights, and then went for a run outside, but that it was so hot that his time was terrible and then he sat in the car for a while recovering. (Insert laughter that I bought that bogus story, hook line and sinker)

Where was he really? Picking up the ring from friends who had taken custody of it that morning from the UPS man. It had taken so long to get the ring in at the jeweler, and then it had to be overnighted to ensure it got here in time! Since it was a holiday weekend and he was leaving on Tuesday, if they hadn't gotten it on Saturday, I'm not sure what would have happened :P

Apparently, he intended to propose on Saturday night, but I ruined his plans :) We went to a first birthday party on Saturday afternoon, where I think a handful of my friends knew he had a ring, and then he planned to take me out for dinner and pop the question. However, my old coworker was in town and I made plans for us to go to dinner with her and her new boyfriend. So I could have been engaged for a whole day longer, but I ruined it!

So on Sunday, we putzed around, got breakfast, stopped at base, stopped at Lowe's, etc. He apparently had the ring in his pocket the whole time and I had NO CLUE. The moment he was looking for just never happened (possibly cause I started arguing with him on the way to base haha) and so he held on to it. However, he suggested we go to a nicer dinner that night and we ended up at Olive Garden. It was a Sunday night in Abilene, our options were either Olive Garden or Jimmy John's :)

Now to the good part! I drove, and he was looking at me very strangely when we got to OG. I actually said "Why are you being so weird??" before I got out of the car. We ate, had atrocious service, and my food was mediocre. At that point, he suggested we do something fun the next day, so I assumed he was trying to find somewhere to go to propose. Little did I know, the proposal was in my immediate future.

We went and got back in the car to leave, and he was once again staring at me really strangely. Again, I said "Why are you looking at me so weirdly??" I popped the car into gear, and he said "Put the car back in park." I glanced away for a second as I put the car back in park, and when I looked back he was holding the ring! I was seriously surprised, which is VERY hard to accomplish since I have an extremely active imagination :) I started crying, he asked me to marry him, and I think I said yes :P

So yes, we got engaged in my car :) If you know us, this is actually very fitting. For the first 2 years we dated, I think we spent 90% of our relationship in the car, road tripping somewhere. And I LOVE my car, so I can't think of a better place!

I'm not sure how I got so lucky......the ring is perfect, the proposal was perfect for us, and the man is absolutely perfect for me :)

our awesome friends who took the ring delivery also came over with champagne to celebrate with us!

can't you see the love???

aaaaaand the ring :) He picked out the perfect ring for me!

and us posing with my car, the special spot :)

He is now deployed, and I am sad, but I have wedding planning to keep me busy until he comes home! And I have my pup to keep me company!

can you believe how big she has gotten?? Cause I can't!

Independent Scentsy Consultant

Hello, blog friends! Forgive me for my long absence again. It's been a slow summer :)

However, things are about to pick up! I registered yesterday as an Independent Scentsy Consultant and I am ridiculously excited about that!

I wanted to let all of you know about my launch party! I have a party open online to kick off my debut as a Scentsy consultant, and I am encouraging everyone I know to at least check out the product.

I was introduced to Scentsy about a year ago, and I have been hooked ever since. I love the product. For those that don't know, Scentsy is a wickless, flameless candle. You get a warmer, which has a low watt light bulb inside. It warms up the dish above, which holds the scented wax, and when the wax melts, it releases delicious scents to fill your home. My favorite thing about Scentsy is the huge variety in scents and warmer options. There is seriously something for everyone!

As Fall approaches, I am going to be stocking up on my favorite Fall scents, like Sentimental Cider and Pumpkin Roll. I love filling the house with great scents that remind me of Fall. I also cannot wait to bust out the holiday scents I have, like Festival of Trees and Christmas Cottage. I always feel extra festive when my Scentsy warmer is filling the house with holiday scents!

If you are new to Scentsy, or unfamiliar with the product, I really encourage you to check it out. The only reason I considered any sort of direct sales opportunity like Scentsy is because I truly support the product. I don't feel like I have to convince you to like Scentsy, because it is so easy to like!

Check out my website and shop the party! There are some great sales and discounts going on right now, so you can fill up on bars or get yourself a warmer system for some great deals! And if you ever want to host a party, let me know and we can get it done!

Bag Lady

6 weeks ago, I started a new job at the local airport! I figured it would be cool to work for the airlines, and I assumed there were some awesome flight benefits.

I was certainly right about the flight benefits. I can fly round trip to Baltimore for $40!!

It is also a crazy interesting job for someone who has spent the last 5 years flying regularly.  It is pretty cool to be behind the scenes, and having access to the secure areas has its perks too!

My flyboy and I had lunch with a friend who was visiting the area yesterday, along with the rest of his flying crew. When asked if I worked, I explained that I am working at the airport and most of what I am doing right now involves being out at the airplane ("on the ramp", if you know the lingo :P) loading bags.

From that point on, I was affectionately referred to as the Bag Lady. That's a title I never thought I'd have :)

Now it's time to put these super cheap flights to use!!

Laziness gone too far...

So for a couple weeks there, I was happily going along logging my daily eats in and doing P90X every day, with a few runs thrown in.

And then we got Piper, and I let myself fall off the wagon. I am also eating whatever I want. Both of these things are resulting in an increasing waistline and number on the scale.

I need to get myself into a morning habit of running. I am working weird hours with my new job (did I tell you I got a job at the airport?), but with Piper, I am pretty much guaranteed to be woken up by 6 am every day. I need to take advantage of the early morning wake up call and go for a run while the weather isn't miserable.

How do you get yourself back on the workout wagon?

Food Glorious Food!

After another few week hiatus, I MUST tell you all about a delicious way I've started eating hot dogs!

My friend Victoria taught me this technique, and I think she said she saw Bobby Flay do it?? I can't take credit for it, but I can promise to eat at least 50% of all my future hot dogs this way.

It's simple.....make Caprese salad and put it on top of your hot dog!

The first time I did this, I followed Victoria's steps........cut up mozzarella, cut up cherry tomatoes, chop up basil, and add olive oil and some red wine vinegar.

The second time, I completely forgot about olive oil and red wine vinegar, and it was still delicious!

apparently it's so good, I can't even take a picture before I take a bite.

I was SUPER skeptical at first, but once I ate a bite, I was hooked. Give it a try......I promise you won't forget it! (if you like caprese salad)

Where did my puppy go???

Piper is HUGE!

I think getting her at 5 weeks gave me a really skewed perspective lol. She is only 10.5 weeks old, and I feel like she is a fully grown dog lol.

And this is Piper tonight, on her way home from her adventures! I miss her mucho, I get to see her tomorrow! Does he look tired to you?? (Apparently C stuffed her in there with all her toys, which might be why her face is up against the door lol)

Aaaand finally, the bed we just purchased. C and I spent way too much time researching this, since that's just who we are :)

dog not included.

I learned another thing about myself...

.....I am not intended for a job that requires extensive travel!

In January, I went to Charlotte, NC, for a work conference for 3 days, and was so so so ready to go back to Abilene after about a day.

Today, I headed to Dallas for work training until Thursday, and I am already ready to go home!

Perhaps it isn't about the travel and is more about my need for control. On both trips, I did not have a vehicle, and on this trip, I didn't see a single restaurant as we drove in. I am going to ask tomorrow at the front desk, but it doesn't look like anything is in walking distance. I hate being stuck somewhere!

I also miss my puppy girl. She is staying with friends right now, and I am thinking about her constantly, wondering what she's doing, if she's ok, if she is giving them a really hard time, etc. I can't wait to go home on Thursday and see her!

On the bright side, our friends also have a dog so Piper is finally getting some dog interaction. The vet suggested we wait until she is completely finished with her vaccinations to let her play with other (known) dogs, but due to this situation (and the fact that I don't really agree with the vet), she got to make a new friend today. I got a picture texted to me of both girls sharing one of Piper's toys, and it made me happy for her!

btw doesn't Piper look huge?! We finally put her on the next size up collar!

And of course, I miss my love. With our lifestyle and the hold the military has on C's every move, I wouldn't likely consider a position that required extensive travel, since I'm pretty sure we would never see each other!

Would you ever take a job that required extensive travel?

See you later...

Last night, I had to say goodbye to my brother. The Air Force has decided it's time for him to move on.

He has been stationed at the same base as C, and was actually here long before we got orders to Dyess. I never expected to live in the same place as my brother again once he graduated from college and commissioned into the Air Force. So this was a pleasant surprise? I don't think he thought it was all that pleasant when I moved here, but I did :P

We have lived in the same town for the last 15 months, and about 3 months ago I moved in with him after I quit my job. I would say we got a lot closer once I moved in, since we just spent more time together. We were both more inclined to just hang out with each other than we were when I was living in my apartment.

When I moved in with C, I missed my brother a lot. Another feeling I didn't quite expect :) My brother and I spent 15 years in the same house, but we were never best friends and while I always hated saying goodbye to him, I never thought my life was missing much by him being in the Air Force and living elsewhere. Once I got to live with him again and spend so much more time together, I realized my life is missing something important when I'm away from him.

I would not trade this experience of living in the same place for anything, especially living together. I feel like, for both of us, we have gotten much closer and actually enjoy each other. We hang out because we want to, not just because we are related. I now consider my brother one of my best friends, and even though I always knew that I could count on him, the way he stepped up and helped me out when I chose to quit my job and had nowhere to go solidified what I already knew. It's something I can't ever pay back.

I love you brudder! I couldn't ask for anything more in a brother :)

Just for fun....

This was a couple weeks ago, but she is just so damn cute!!!

Still settling in...

Still settling in with the puppy girl, so I haven't had much to say!

On a fun note, here are a few pics of Piper enjoying her puppy pool! Last week, we tried to get her in it and she hated every second. Then, two days later, we gave her a bath and she was far from thrilled with us for that one, too. So today, on impulse, I decided to fill up her pool with a few inches of water.

You know how it is when you get in a body of water.....the legs aren't bad, but when the water hits your stomach, it's awful! So I think Piper didn't like being in deeper water.

I had to bribe her in initially, but she popped in a few times on her own!

what she thinks her pool is really for - an extra large water bowl

I had to wait and write this blog post when my mind was in a good place :)

Well, we are puppy parents! We brought Piper home on Friday night, at 4 weeks and 6 days old. Obviously, that is significantly younger than most puppies come home and much younger than they should. But, as I explained in my previous post about her, there was a reason! Due to the crazy situation with her foster family, this was the best time to get her.

However, that means what feels like quadruple the work for C and me! According to one of the puppy books we have, a 5 week old puppy is the equivalent of an 18 month old human, developmentally. An 8 week old puppy is equivalent to a 3 year old human. Now, I don't have kids of my own, but I babysat in my past and I have seen the difference between 18 months and 3 years!

After the first night, during which Piper cried for a solid hour and a half, and C and I struggled to stay in bed until she stopped crying so we could take her out, I was in a pretty questionable place. Some of you may remember my first foray into dog ownership over 2 years ago, which was not so successful. After that night, I was not sure this foray into dog ownership was going to be any more successful. However, this time I have C on my side :)

As any of you who have raised a puppy may know, it is a LOT of work. I went from living with my brother, with no job, coming and going whenever I felt like it. In one day, I moved in with C and got a puppy. C left on Monday for a 4 day TDY, and it has been a bit of a tough time.

I told my friend Dani that I have been having the most ridiculous mood swings in relation to Piper. Sometimes, I think I can't survive being tied to a dependent little being! At other times, I think of all the adult dogs I have been around, including our family Beagle and English Cocker Spaniel, and think of what great company Piper will be with C being out of town so often.

Taffy and Freckles

What I apparently choose to forget is that Freckles, our spaniel, was so terrible as a puppy (and up until about 2 years old) that my grandma kept threatening to send her away to a farm. Or that our beagle, Taffy, was also pretty damn close to going back to the breeder she came from because my parents were so frustrated in her training.

Since C is out of town this week, I had to figure out how to keep my sanity. I was pretty bummed out with the puppy blues lol, and then I went to Subway for dinner for just about 40 minutes, and it gave me a lot of perspective when I came back. Nothing catastrophic happened while I was gone, and I'm not even sure Piper really noticed I was gone! So for the rest of the week, I am going to try and get out for half an hour or so around lunch and around dinner.

And, to give mad props to our crazy smart dog, she is AMAZING in her crate. She goes in with no problems when she is sleepy, so getting her to sleep is a total breeze! And she is already learning that if she cries, we don't let her out. For the last two nights, she has let out one or two whimpers when she wakes up and needs to go out, enough that I hear her but not so much that she is really crying.

In a couple weeks, her bladder size will increase and life will be a whole lot prettier :)

And at the end of the day, who can resist this?!?

Wish us luck!

i still miss you.

Today marks 10 years since my best friend passed away.

I still love you and miss you all the time.

I still dream about you, and I still dream about scenarios in which you come back to us.

Thank you for watching over me. I know you keep me going, and knowing you are up there and on my side makes every day easier.

On this day last year, I told you Freck was sick and she would be coming to join you soon. I guess you must have heard me, because the vet recently told Mom that she is doing great. We're grateful to have something of yours to still hold on to.

I love you, Grandma.

The Gollasch's Adoption: Scentsy party!

Hello, blog readers. It is 11 pm on Sunday night, and I am getting around to writing this post after we finally put our new little puppy girl to bed. More on her in another post!

The beauty of the military and the internet is that when you combine those two things, you get support :) I have been a part of a few military SO (significant other) message boards since I started dating C in 2007. I have made some amazing friends and acquaintances online in the last nearly 5 years, and I have also had the pleasure of meeting several of these women in person!

So, when a fellow military SO is in need of a little help/support, it's time to act :)

Ashley and her husband Pat have been trying to have a baby for several years, to no avail. You can read more of their story at The Gollasch's Adoption blog. I haven't had the pleasure of meeting Ashley in person, but I can tell that she is a sweet and deserving woman.

As part of their fundraising efforts on their new path to adoption, they are hosting a Scentsy party. The Scentsy consultant was kind enough to donate her entire commission to Pat and Ashley's adoption efforts. And who doesn't love Scentsy???

Follow this link to order your Scentsy products to benefit Pat and Ashley's adoption fundraising!

If you want to help, but aren't into Scentsy (blashpemy, you should get into Scentsy!!), then you can follow this link to Pat and Ashley's fundraising website!

I hope you all consider helping out a very deserving couple as they start their adoption journey!

My product review: Exercise resistance bands

For my birthday, C got me exactly what I asked for---- exercise resistance bands!

I wanted bands because I had heard good things, and because I thought it might provide me more options during my P90X workouts, as opposed to just weights. I also am completely incapable of doing a pull-up, and they show you a modified way to simulate the action with bands, which I felt was more useful than hanging from the pull up bar lol.

C picked out these handles and a 30 lb band.

I'll just start by saying I LOVE having the bands. After using the 30 lb resistance one a few times, we went out and got a second band that is 50 lbs resistance. My next purchase will be a second set of handles so I don't have to swap out my bands all the time mid workout. Although, the more I think about the, I am pretty sure I can just put 3 bands in the 3 different slots and have an all in one tool!

My only caution with this particular type of handle, that may or may not be the same with other resistance bands, is that the shape of it makes it perfectly uncomfortable when doing curls. It hits the outside of my arm in just the right way that my arms are bruised/feel bruised for several days after using it. It is great for a variety of different other exercises that don't end up twisting it the way a curl does. However, doing curls with them hurt.

Overall, I definitely suggest get resistance bands for your workouts! I am loving using mine, and man is it easier to store than a bunch of heavy weights!

Puppy? Puppy!

Exciting news, world! C and I are getting a PUPPY!

I have held off on posting it here, since he was away for a few days and we hadn't made a final decision until tonight!

When his plane landed in Abilene, we took off immediately for the foster mama's house (much to C's chagrin, since it was 5 pm and he hadn't eaten since breakfast).

As a little back story, I found the pups on craigslist. The foster mama took in a pregnant dog that had been abandoned by her owners, presumably. The mom then had 9 of the cutest puppies known to man! Since then, the foster mama has been trying to find them homes. The foster mom, her two kids, and her husband are all moving to Amarillo on 5/26, which is the day the pups turn 6 weeks old. So she is really trying to get them rehomed asap.

I went to see the pups on Sunday with a friend, since I knew C and I were interested. I fell in love with the white girl (not really white, she is that super blonde lab color), but I knew C was set on getting a black lab. I was hoping I could persuade him to see things my way :)

Luckily, when we went back today, the little white pup played along with my plan and was fun and playful. She is also the runt of the litter, so that appealed to C. The black puppy was much less playful, and C said she seemed skittish.  C really wants a pup to play with, and I want a pup to love on, and the foster mama said the little white girl (it feels funny to type that lol) is affectionate but also playful.

Before I knew it, C told the foster mama "I think we'll be taking the runt of the litter off your hands." I pretty much started jumping up and down and applauding at that point :)

We still haven't picked a name, but she should be coming home this weekend! Due to the nature of the situation, the foster mom really needs them adopted ASAP. I am slightly concerned about getting her so young (5 weeks), but they have been approved by the vet since they are eating solids really well. I am also going to call the vet and see if we can get an appointment for first thing on Monday to get her started on her shots and make sure everything is ok.

We are super excited! And name suggestions are welcome!

Check it outtt!

I know, I know. I don't post for weeks and then you get 3 posts in 3 days!

But I just HAVE to post about my amazing new blog design, courtesy of Brea at Utterly Chaotic!

I worked with Brea on my previous design, and she is awesome! I gave her very little to work with in terms of what I wanted for this design, and she came up with this awesome look! I was looking to mature my blog look a little bit, without being totally boring. She nailed it!

If you are looking for a new blog design, go to Utterly Chaotic! She also has a military discount :)

MilSpouse Blog Hop Meet and Greet!

Today is May 11, which makes it Military Spouse Appreciation Day!

As we all know I am not a military spouse :P However, I am not letting that prevent me from participating in this fun blog hop!

I think it's awesome that the ladies behind Household 6 Diva and Riding the Roller Coaster decided to host this fabulous link up!

Since it is a Meet and Greet, you will once again be hearing about me :)

I am Abby! I am a 24 year old Maryland native who is currently embarking on a second hot summer in Texas. My favorite guy is a C-130 pilot in the Air Force, which is what brought us here to the Big Country.

We met in 2007 through a mutual friend, Eric. A group of us spent a couple days camping on the beach at Assateague Island, and C just couldn't resist my charming nature and how sexy I look when I camp. Oh and how sweet I am to not mock him or take pictures when he is ridiculously hungover :)

but really.....who can resist this sweet face??

When we met, I was still in school and C was just beginning a year of casual duty before he began pilot training. With so many unknowns, we still decided it would be a good idea to start a long distance relationship. For how realistic my guy is, I am amazed to this day that he started this journey with me.

Over the last 5 years, we have bought nearly 30 plane tickets between the two of us and spent at least $10,000 on airfare alone. Low balling it, I think we have flown about 120 flights in that time, since each plane ticket required at least 2 flights, and we almost always have layovers, making each plane ticket 4 flights. Sometimes we even had two

the first of many sad airport departures. We stopped taking pictures after this one, because I usually cried so much that I might have broken the camera with how awful I looked lol.

I moved to Abilene last March, putting an end to the crazy long distance relationship. C had finished training and I had finished school, and for the first time he is going to stay in one place for more than 6 months to a year (excluding deployment interruptions lol). We have been enjoying living in the same place at the same time, which was something we had never done before!

I feel like there is a lot more to say, but I don't want to bore you :)

I am excited to hop around the blogosphere and read more about MilSpouses!

Just hanging around

It seems I lose a lot of motivation when I have unlimited time to do things.

I've gotten lazy on my workouts, healthy eating, and quite obviously, blog posting.

I'm still hanging around applying to jobs all day. Ok, not all day. But as much as you possibly can in a place like Abilene.

I have been supremely lazy with working out, as typically happens when I try to DIVE IN to a workout plan. Working out 6 days a week apparently doesn't agree with my subconscious :)

However, I feel totally gross all the time now, so I know I need to get back to P90X and healthy eating. I got resistance bands from C for my birthday, and we bought a heavier resistance this week, as well as adjustable weight dumbbells for my birthday. So I have all the tools to not only complete the P90X workouts, but to improve my skills!

Does anyone else find the task of being really healthy really daunting?

If you see me on the internet tomorrow, ask me if I've worked out!!

Link Up: Meet Me on Monday!

1.  I keep putting off working out! As I type this, I should be doing Chest and Back from P90X!

2.  What is your current weather? Annoyingly hot. Summer hits Texas in March, so it's been consistently in the 80s-90s. It got over 100 a couple times last week, which was just torture.

3.  What is the nicest room in your house? Right now, I am in transit living with my brother, so I don't have a home lol. My room is the nicest!

4.  What jewelry do you never take off? The Claddagh ring C bought be a few years ago. I take it off to shower and that's it. I also literally never take out my cartilage earring and my inner ear piercing.

5.  Do you eat a snack before bed? That's a daily decision. Typically I eat a late evening dessert of some kind, which sometimes butts right into bedtime. I always drink a full glass of water before bed.

Well, I am embarking on another weight loss challenge! I have been pretty steadily working out, and decided to try P90X to speed up the process and tone up! I'm hoping the program will help me stay on target.

I have heard tons of stuff about P90X, and it is pretty intimidating. However, I figured over 90 days, this could have a HUGE impact on my fitness level! And at this point, I really want to see some big change.

I started today with Chest and Back and Ab Ripper X. Chest and Back was mostly pushups and pullups, both of which I am atrocious at. I had to really modify pullups to get any workout, cause I can't even do 1 real pullup. I ended up using a chair, like they do in the video, to make it possible to do any pullups. I also had to modify a lot of the pushups because my arms are so wimpy and weak. 1 is done! I need to work harder next time, which shouldn't be hard since tomorrow is Plyometrics, and I have already heard it's tough!

oh and p.s.....I took before pics today, so hopefully in 90 days I am looking majorly different :P

Now, what's for lunch.....
